At its core, the catalog utilizes a Microsoft SQL Server 2000 database. It is here
that the business logic resides (in numerous Stored Procedures). All of the inventory,
catalog, shopping cart, and customer information is contained in this database.
The website itself is built using Active Server Pages (ASP). This presentation layer
works hand-in-hand with Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) to create robust
functionality. Each ASP pages calls DLL methods that in turn call the appropriate SQL
stored procedure. The result is a fully database integrated solution that is not only
stable, but also incredibly fast and exceptionally secure.
