OK...you have a website but how do you drive your target audience to it?
This is a question that has plaqued many companies over the years. There is no single
answer. It all depends heavily on the site's purpose and your product or service.
Here are a few generic suggestions on promoting your site:
- Offer information of value on your site.
In order to generate real interest
in your site, visitors must feel like they are getting something out of it that
they can't get elsewhere. Perhaps this is technical support or pre-sales information
on your products or services, or it could be as simple as providing a sense of
community. The bottom line is that there must be something that they really want
(not just what you think they want).
- Place your website address on all company advertisements.
You are spending good
money on your corporate documents and advertising, so why not take advantage of it and
promote your website along with your company. Put your website address on all your brochures,
printed ads, radio or TV spots, business cards, letterheads, quotes, invoices, etc.
- Submit your website to search engines.
Search engines are an important source
for directing new leads to your website. Search engine referrals are great because they
are actively seeking information about your products or services, so they can be considered
pre-qualified as potential customers. For more extensive information on search engines,
